The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has launched the India–Australia Facilitation Centre at its 4th International Conference held in Sydney, Australia, from September 3 to 5, 2025. The initiative aims to bolster bilateral trade and investment, offering support for companies from both countries to establish offices and subsidiaries.

Organised on the theme “Embracing Innovation, Enhancing Good Governance”, the three-day global conference was inaugurated in the august presence of Dr. S. Janakiraman, Consul General of India in Sydney. The event will conclude with a study tour of the University of Wollongong on September 5, giving participants insights into international governance education and opportunities for collaboration.

A special session on India’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at GIFT City, addressed by K. Rajaraman, Chairperson of IFSCA, highlighted the city’s pivotal role in fintech innovation, cross-border trade, and sustainable business expansion.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Janakiraman lauded ICSI’s five-decade-long contribution to corporate governance, describing Company Secretaries as “trusted stewards of integrity and strategic advisors to boards.” He also welcomed the establishment of the India–Australia Facilitation Centre and invited professionals to utilise the Consulate’s Business Centre in Sydney as a ready hub for office space, meetings, and business promotion.

The conference featured distinguished speakers from both nations who shared perspectives on future-ready governance, ESG and circular economy, data privacy and cyber security, risk management, India–Australia investment ties, diversity and inclusion, and governance in generative AI.

Hosted by ICSI Overseas Centre Australia Inc., with support from the Australia India Chamber of Commerce and the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) India, the event provided a vibrant platform for dialogue, networking, and collaboration among thought leaders, industry pioneers, and investors.

Highlighting the significance of the conference, CS Dhananjay Shukla, President of ICSI, said, “The 4th International Conference will serve as a pivotal platform for Company Secretaries, helping them explore Australia’s legal and governance frameworks, ethical perspectives, and emerging career opportunities, amidst expanding economic engagement between the two countries.”
