The Jindal Foundation, the social development arm of Jindal Steel, has launched the fourth edition of its flagship initiative, Yashasvi, aimed at empowering girls and women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds through education and skill development. This year, the Foundation targets supporting over 5,000 women and girls across Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh.
Under the Yashasvi programme, eligible candidates will receive financial assistance to pursue vocational training, academic education, or professional courses at institutions of their choice. The initiative is designed to break financial barriers and enable women to chart their own path toward self-reliance and economic independence.
Speaking on the programme, Shallu Jindal, Chairperson of the Jindal Foundation, said: “At the Jindal Foundation, we believe that empowered women are the backbone of a progressive society. Through the Yashasvi programme, we are investing in the future of young women who have the potential to make a difference in their communities. We are very happy that this initiative has had a positive impact on the lives of over 11,000 women and girls. This year, we look forward to transforming even more lives through education and skill development.”
The programme is open to meritorious women and girls aged 16 to 30from low-income families (with annual income less than ₹2,00,000) residing in the three targeted states. Financial support will cover academic expenses, including admission, tuition, and examination fees — enabling beneficiaries to overcome economic challenges and pursue their aspirations without compromise.
Selection will be based on a combination of academic merit, family income, and proof of admission to a recognised educational or vocational training institution. Other eligibility criteria will also be considered to ensure the most deserving candidates are supported.
Interested applicants are required to submit their applications along with supporting documents by August 16, 2025, as per the detailed guidelines available on the Foundation’s official website: https://jindalfoundation.com/Yashasvi.
Launched in 2022, the Yashasvi programme has, over the past three years, extended its support to more than 11,000 women and girls, empowering them through access to quality education and skill training. Of these, nearly 8,000 beneficiaries have successfully secured livelihoods through employment, entrepreneurship, or self-employment—underscoring the programme’s transformative impact on women’s economic empowerment and community development.
Through Yashasvi, the Jindal Foundation continues its mission of driving inclusive social progress by investing in the potential of women — ensuring that economic background does not become a barrier to ambition and achievement.
