Jindal Foundation, the social arm of Jindal Steel, has launched the weeklong observance of National Nutrition Week 2025 with an inaugural program at Badamahital village under Natada Gram Panchayat in Angul district. The initiative aims to tackle pressing challenges such as malnutrition, anemia, low birth weight, and stunted growth by promoting awareness on balanced nutrition, healthy eating habits, and hygiene practices.

The opening day witnessed a Health and Sensitisation Camp with the participation of over 100 villagers. Organized in collaboration with ICDS, Chhendipada, the camp underlined the importance of nutritious diets, handwashing, and everyday hygiene. Practical demonstrations showcased how affordable, locally available food can be turned into healthy meals, while recipe displays and a moringa plantation drive added depth to the program.

The event was inaugurated by Susama Sethy, Child Development Project Officer, Chhendipada, in the presence of Kamini Bala Sahu, ICDS Supervisor, Jayanta Kumar Mohanty, HOD CSR, members of the CSR team, and Anganwadi workers.

Throughout the week, the Foundation will extend similar activities to several villages, with a strong focus on driving social and behavioural change through communication. The program will cover key areas such as antenatal care, optimal breastfeeding practices, complementary feeding, anemia control, growth monitoring, balanced diets, right age of marriage, hygiene, and sanitation. Special focus will be laid on the critical first 1,000 days of life, considered vital for a child’s physical and cognitive development.

Jindal Foundation has been actively addressing malnutrition through its flagship programmes like ‘Chiranjeev’ and ‘Sneh’, which bridge nutritional gaps among vulnerable groups in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, positively impacting over one lakh lives. In line with the Anaemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Foundation has also enabled more than eight lakh girls across India to overcome moderate and severe anaemia, underscoring its commitment to holistic community health and nutrition.
