Jindal Steel’s Kasia and Tensa Mines sweep top honours at 42nd Metalliferous Mines Safety Week

Reinforcing its steadfast commitment to workplace safety and operational excellence, Jindal Steel has garnered widespread acclaim at the 42nd Annual Metalliferous Mines Safety Week Celebration, with its Kasia and Tensa Mines securing multiple prestigious awards. The grand event, organized under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), witnessed participation from 113 metalliferous mines across the country.

Jindal Steel’s standout performance reflected its deep-rooted safety culture, strict adherence to statutory guidelines, and unwavering focus on the well-being of its workforce. The company’s twin mines — Kasia and Tensa — emerged as major winners under their respective categories, showcasing exemplary practices in mine safety, health, and employee welfare.

Under Group A2, Kasia Mines was honoured in several categories. It secured the first prize for Overall Performance and the first prize for Training, Health & Welfare. The mine also bagged the second prize for GVTC (under Kasia Mines MDO) and the second prize for SMP, Safety & Statutory Compliance. This apart, Kasia Mines received the third prize for Occupational Health Centre as well as the third prize for Lead Indicator, Emergency Preparedness, Mock Drill, and Accident Statistics.

Similarly, under Group B1, Tensa Mines also achieved multiple recognitions. It was awarded the first prize for Training, Health & Welfare, the second prize for Safe Handling of Explosives, the second prize for Digitization in Mine Safety, and the second prize for Best Contractor Award, which was received by Maa Sarala Private Works.
