Jio cements leadership in Odisha; adds whopping 1.54 lakh subscribers in May 2025

Further reinforcing its commanding leadership as Odisha’s No. 1 digital service provider, Reliance Jio has once again emerged at the forefront by registering the highest addition of new mobile subscribers in the state for May 2025. According to the latest telecom subscription data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio added a staggering 1.54 lakh new mobile subscribers in Odisha during the month — accounting for over 91% of the total net subscriber additions in the state.

With this, Jio’s total mobile subscriber base in Odisha has surged past 1.62 crore, consolidating its over 46% market share in the state’s mobile segment. The total number of mobile subscribers in Odisha crossed 3.52 crore as of May 31, 2025, with Jio’s net addition far outpacing that of other operators. Vodafone Idea (VI) added 18,842 new subscribers, Airtel trailed with 3,693 additions, while BSNL saw a decline of over 8,000 subscribers during the same period.

At the national level, Reliance Jio also topped the charts by adding over 27 lakh new subscribers in May 2025 — nearly 10 times more than its closest competitor — underlining its undisputed dominance in India’s telecom landscape.

Marking another major milestone, Jio became the first and only service provider in Odisha to surpass 5 lakh subscribers for its JioFiber and JioAirFiber services combined. Notably, Jio commands over 84% subscriber market share in the state’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) segment through JioAirFiber.

Jio’s deep-rooted presence in Odisha extends across wireless, wireline, and 5G FWA domains — boasting over 46% mobile, 55% wireline, and 84% 5G FWA market share respectively. This growth has been powered by its expansive 4G and 5G network footprint across urban, semi-urban, and remote regions of the state.
