Jio strengthens No. 1 position in Odisha with over 1.8 lakh new subscribers in April: TRAI

Reliance Jio has further reinforced its leadership as the No. 1 digital service provider in Odisha by adding over 1.8 lakh new subscribers in April 2025, according to the latest telecom subscription data released today by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Mobile subscribers in Odisha

The data shows that Jio gained over 1.53 lakh new mobile subscribers and more than 30,000 new wireline and 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) users through JioFiber and JioAirFiber, respectively. With this growth, Jio now commands over 45 per cent of the mobile subscriber market share in Odisha, serving more than 1.61 crore mobile users.

Odisha’s total mobile subscriber base surpassed 3.5 crore in April 2025, with a net addition of approximately 1.55 lakh new mobile subscribers during the month. Among other telecom operators, Vodafone Idea (Vi) added only 6,659 new subscribers, followed by Airtel with 3,839 additions. Meanwhile, BSNL lost 8,011 subscribers.

Jio also extended its dominance in the wireline and 5G FWA segments, adding over 30,000 new JioFiber and JioAirFiber users in April alone. The total JioFiber subscriber base in the state has crossed 3 lakh, while JioAirFiber users have increased to over 1.67 lakh. Notably, JioAirFiber commands more than 84 per cent of the 5G FWA market share in Odisha.

5G FWA subsribers in Odisha

Driven by its robust 4G and 5G infrastructure, Jio remains Odisha’s most preferred digital service provider, holding a 45.9 per cent mobile subscriber market share and over 84 per cent share in the 5G FWA segment.

At the national level, Jio continued to lead the wireless telecom sector by adding over 26 lakh new mobile subscribers in April 2025 — more than 13 times higher than the next closest competitor. It also emerged as the only operator with a positive net addition of active subscribers during the month, gaining over 55 lakh new active users — the second consecutive month it has added over 5 million active subscribers.

In the fixed broadband segment, Jio achieved another record by adding approximately 9.1 lakh new subscribers (wireline + FWA) in April, nearly four times that of its nearest competitor. Jio continues to lead the FWA market nationwide, with over 82 per cent market share and a subscriber base exceeding 6.14 million.
