JSW Steel’s Narayanposhi iron and manganese mine in Odisha has been awarded the prestigious 5-Star rating by the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India. The honour recognizes the mine’s outstanding performance in sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and corporate social responsibility.
The award was presented at a special felicitation ceremony hosted by IBM at the Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, celebrating the country’s top-rated mining operations. The event saw the presence of Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, and Rajasthan Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma.
Gajraj Singh Rathore, Additional Director and Whole-time Director, designated as Chief Operating Officer, JSW Steel Ltd., accepted the award on behalf of the company. He was joined by key members of the JSW Steel – Odisha team, including Sauvick Mazumder, Chief Operating Officer; Ram Shankar Sharma, Head of Mines Operations and Projects; Apan Rath, Mine Manager; and Ankita Singh from Mines Planning.
This recognition reaffirms JSW Steel’s commitment to responsible mining and sustainable resource management. The Narayanposhi mine continues to set benchmarks in reducing environmental impact, fostering community development, and aligning with the nation’s sustainable development goals.
