Navratna CPSE National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has taken a major stride towards empowering rural youth through skill development. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement a comprehensive skill training programme for young people from the peripheral villages surrounding NALCO’s operational units at Damanjodi and Angul.
The MoU was inked between NALCO Foundation – the CSR arm of NALCO – and the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, on October 7, 2025, at NALCO’s Corporate Office.
Under this initiative, 40 youths — 20 each from the periphery of NALCO’s Mines & Refinery Complex, Damanjodi, and Smelter & Power Complex, Angul — will undergo a five-month residential training programme at CTTC, Bhubaneswar.
The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NALCO, along with Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Director (Production); Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattnayak, Director (HR); Abhay Kumar Behuria, Director (Finance); and senior officials from NALCO, NALCO Foundation, and CTTC Bhubaneswar.
Appreciating the initiative, Brijendra Pratap Singh said the programme will equip local youth with industry-relevant skills, enhancing their employability and opening doors to sustainable livelihood opportunities. He emphasized that such CSR interventions can serve as a benchmark in regional skill development by nurturing local talent and boosting youth confidence.
The training will align with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) of the National Skill Development Council (NSDC), Government of India. This initiative reinforces NALCO’s unwavering commitment to community development and sustainable livelihood creation under its Corporate Social Responsibility endeavours.
