The National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna CPSE, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Skill Development Institute (SDI) in Bhubaneswar, an initiative under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). The collaboration aims to implement a skill development program for the youth from the peripheral villages surrounding NALCO’s operational areas.
The MoU was formalized on Thursday in a ceremony attended by NALCO CMD, Brijendra Pratap Singh, Director (HR) Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, and senior officials from both NALCO and SDI.
As part of this initiative, 30 young individuals from each of the peripheral villages near NALCO’s Mines & Refinery Complex in Damanjodi and Smelter & Power Complex in Angul will participate in a three-month residential skill development program. The training will cover a variety of trades in line with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) guidelines of the National Skill Development Council (NSDC), Government of India.
Speaking at the event, Singh emphasized that the program is a significant step toward empowering local youth with industry-relevant skills, paving the way for sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through this collaboration with SDI, NALCO aims to identify and nurture talent at the grassroots level, he added.
This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative reflects NALCO’s steadfast commitment to community development, with a strong focus on enhancing youth skills, improving employability, and promoting sustainable livelihoods in the company’s operational regions.
