In a significant stride towards innovation and value addition in the aluminium sector, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Union Mines Ministry, has launched its latest high-performance offering — the IA90 Grade Aluminium Alloy Ingot — tailored specifically for the automotive industry.
The new alloy grade was formally unveiled by Sadashiv Samantaray, Director (Commercial), NALCO, at the Company’s Smelter and Power Complex in Angul on Tuesday, in the presence of senior officials and key operational personnel. The IA90 alloy has been meticulously engineered to meet the demanding specifications of modern automobile manufacturing, offering a combination of enhanced strength, superior wear resistance, and high corrosion tolerance.
With its excellent castability and durability, IA90 is ideally suited for critical automotive components such as wheels, engine blocks, cylinder heads, and various structural parts. Its introduction marks a strategic move by NALCO to align with the fast-evolving needs of the Indian automotive sector, which is increasingly embracing lightweight and high-performance materials to boost efficiency and sustainability.
This launch not only broadens NALCO’s product portfolio but also reinforces its commitment to technological advancement and industry-centric innovation.
