National Unity Day celebrated with zeal at O.P. Jindal School in Angul

O.P. Jindal School, located at Jindal Nagar, Angul, celebrated National Unity Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India.” The celebration aimed to instil the values of unity, integrity, and brotherhood among the students, reflecting the true spirit of national integration.

The programme commenced with a special assembly held at the school’s sports complex, where Principal Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sahu addressed the gathering. In his inspiring speech, he highlighted Sardar Patel’s monumental role in the unification of India and urged students to uphold his ideals of strength and solidarity in their daily lives.

Adding energy and excitement to the occasion, a “Run for Unity” was organised in the form of an Inter-House Cross Country Race, symbolising the nation’s collective stride towards harmony and progress. NCC students also delivered insightful speeches on the life and contributions of Sardar Patel, enriching the audience with stories of his leadership and vision.

The event was graced by Col. Sudeep Maji, HoD (Admin), Jindal Steel, who attended as the Chief Guest and flagged off the race. He motivated the students to carry forward the legacy of unity and determination exemplified by Sardar Patel. Winners and runners-up of the race were felicitated with medals and certificates, celebrating their spirit of participation and sportsmanship.

The celebration concluded with the Unity Pledge, taken by all present, reaffirming their commitment to uphold the unity and integrity of the nation. The day’s events not only paid a fitting tribute to Sardar Patel but also inspired students to contribute towards building a strong and united India.
