NTPC Bongaigaon celebrates Teachers’ Day at Notre Dame Academy and Ankur Tiny Tots

NTPC Bongaigaon observed Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm at Notre Dame Academy, Salakati, and Ankur Tiny Tots, located within its township. The celebrations paid rich tributes to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the distinguished philosopher, teacher, and former President of India, whose birth anniversary is commemorated across the nation as Teachers’ Day.

At Notre Dame Academy, the programme began with Principal Sister Manju and the faculty leading the observance. Students presented vibrant cultural performances expressing their gratitude towards their mentors. Teachers were felicitated by Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, and Kasturi Maitra, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club. Speaking on the occasion, Gupta highlighted the indispensable role of teachers in shaping young minds and building a value-based society. Earlier, Amit K. Asthana, Head of HR, recalled the contributions of inspirational teachers across the country who have brought about transformative change through education.

At Ankur Tiny Tots, floral tributes were offered to Dr. Radhakrishnan by Maitra and members of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club. Teachers were honoured with tokens of appreciation for their commitment and service. Maitra, in her address, lauded their dedication and reaffirmed the importance of nurturing children into responsible citizens. The celebrations were made lively with fun games for the teachers and a quiz conducted by the students, which added a cheerful and interactive spirit to the occasion.

The programme was attended by Sushil Kumar, AGM (CCD), Manish Kumar, Sr. Manager (C&I), and representatives from the parents’ community, who joined in acknowledging the invaluable contribution of teachers. Colourful cultural programmes by children of both schools further enriched the celebrations, making the day a memorable one for teachers, students, and dignitaries alike.
