NTPC Ltd, India’s largest integrated power utility, has crossed a significant milestone by taking its total installed and commercial capacity beyond 85.5 GW, reaffirming its leadership in the country’s energy transition journey. The achievement follows the declaration of commercial operation of 359.58 MW of solar capacity across projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan through its subsidiaries.

The latest capacity addition includes the commercial operation of 243.66 MW from the 1,255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project in Gujarat, being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC through NTPC Green Energy Limited. In Rajasthan, NTPC declared commercial operation of 78 MW from its Nokh Sokar Solar PV Project, part of a larger 245 MW capacity. The company also announced the commissioning of 37.925 MW from the Khavda Solar Energy Project under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V project in Gujarat.

With these additions, NTPC Group’s total installed and commercial capacity has reached 85,541 MW, consolidating its position as a cornerstone of India’s power sector. The company currently meets nearly one-fourth of the nation’s electricity demand and has more than 30.90 GW of capacity under construction, including 13.3 GW of renewable energy projects.

Aligned with India’s Net Zero ambitions, NTPC has set an ambitious target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. Its diversified energy portfolio spans thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power, ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply across the country.

Beyond conventional power generation, NTPC is expanding into future-focused energy solutions such as e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen. Through innovation and large-scale clean energy deployment, the company continues to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s greener and more resilient energy future.
