Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has been officially recognized as a Green Hydrogen Hub under the Government of India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). This significant milestone positions the port as a key player in India’s clean energy and decarbonization efforts.
The designation comes under the guidelines of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), enabling projects within the hub to access a range of incentives and benefits from both central and state government schemes. This will support the large-scale development of green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and various end-use applications.
Paradip Port’s strategic location, coupled with its robust existing infrastructure, makes it an ideal site for facilitating hydrogen production on a large scale. This recognition aligns with the broader goal of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to establish India as a global hub for the production, utilization, and export of green hydrogen. The move further supports India’s ambitious target of becoming a leader in clean energy adoption, reducing carbon emissions, and advancing maritime-led economic growth.
Commenting on the recognition, Paradip Port Authority Chairman P. L. Haranadh said, “We are honoured to be recognized as a Green Hydrogen Hub. Paradip Port will leverage its infrastructure and strategic location to support the nation’s clean energy transition and contribute to India’s decarbonization journey.”
