BONGAIGAON, AUGUST 15, 2025
NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated the 79th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic zeal, resonating with the national spirit of Har Ghar Tiranga at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium of its 750 MW power station.
The event commenced with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head of the station, followed by an inspection of the parade by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and DGR Security Services. In his address, Maitra lauded NTPC Bongaigaon’s consistent operational excellence and strong presence on both the state and national power maps. He noted that the station had maintained impressive generation performance with high plant availability, recording a robust PLF in the last fiscal year. Among its achievements were the longest continuous operation of Unit-2 since inception — 319 days — uninterrupted coal supplies ensuring operational stability, and record annual ash utilisation. He attributed these successes to the dedication of employees, departments, and partners, urging them to embrace best practices, drive innovation, and further strengthen CSR, environmental, medical, and safety initiatives.
The cultural segment featured spirited performances by students from Ankur Tiny Tots, Bal Bhawan, and Notre Dame Academy, NTPC Bongaigaon. Dressed in vibrant traditional and patriotic attire, the young artists presented a colourful medley of songs, dances, and skits, portraying India’s unity in diversity and drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience. The release of tri-colour balloons by Maitra, accompanied by senior officials and members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, added a symbolic gesture of freedom and hope to the occasion.
Recognising excellence, Maitra presented the prestigious HOP Meritorious Awards to 45 employees for their notable contributions, the Health Champion Awards (2024-25) to 7 employees, and honoured 10 employees under the Aawahan Policy for their achievements in cycling and walking competitions organised by the Sports Council.
The event was attended by Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, senior NTPC officials, L. N. Meitei, Commandant, CISF, Amit K. Asthana, Head of HR, departmental heads, union and association members, welfare bodies, and employees with their families.
Earlier in the day, Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), hoisted the National Flag at the service building in the presence of employees, while Kasturi Maitra unfurled the tricolour at the Ladies Club and Ankur Tiny Tots premises. At Notre Dame Academy, Sister Manju Joseph, Principal, led the flag-hoisting ceremony at the school campus.
