Paradip Port Authority (PPA) commemorated the 156th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with solemn tributes and a renewed pledge to uphold his ideals of cleanliness and civic responsibility. P.L. Haranadh, Chairman, PPA, offered floral tributes at the statue of the Father of the Nation in the presence of Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister for Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education, Government of Odisha, and other dignitaries.

The occasion also marked the inauguration of the newly developed Vessel Steering Wheel and the refurbished frontage of the PPA Administrative Building by Haranadh and the Heads of Departments — symbolizing the port’s commitment to modernization, aesthetics, and a welcoming environment.

Students from local schools participated in essay and painting competitions organized under PPA’s guidance, highlighting themes of cleanliness, sustainability, and social awareness. Encouraging the young participants, Haranadh personally presented awards to the winners of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative, emphasizing the role of youth in shaping a cleaner and more responsible society.

In a spirited culmination of the event, the Chairman flagged off the ‘Special Campaign 5.0 Rath’ at Paradip Port, designed to spread messages of hygiene, efficiency, and environmental stewardship across the port community. Centered on the dual themes of “Cleanliness (Swachhata)” and “Minimizing Administrative Pendency,” the campaign underscores PPA’s unwavering dedication to efficiency, sustainability, and a greener workplace — echoing Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless vision of a clean and self-reliant nation.
