Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, marked the 78th anniversary of the nation’s independence with a heartfelt initiative titled ‘Saluting 78’, honouring the valour and sacrifice of war veterans and ex-servicemen across Eastern India. The initiative was dedicated to celebrating 78 distinguished veterans from Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand, symbolising the spirit of courage and service that underpins the nation’s freedom.

In Odisha, 25 ex-servicemen from diverse backgrounds were felicitated in a ceremony that resonated with patriotic fervour and community participation. Each veteran was presented with a plaque, a trophy, a shawl, the Indian National Flag, and a specially curated commemorative album featuring the profiles of all 78 honoured veterans. The event drew enthusiastic participation from citizens, schoolchildren, community leaders, and dignitaries, creating a vibrant atmosphere of respect and gratitude.

A spokesperson for Dalmia Cement reflected on the significance of the initiative, saying, “For over 85 years, Dalmia Cement has stood not just for building infrastructure, but for upholding the values that unite our nation. With ‘Saluting 78’, we collectively honour this esteemed fraternity of veterans whose courage and sacrifice form the bedrock of our freedom. This initiative reaffirms our commitment to building not only enduring structures but also a strong, united, and resilient India.”

Adding to the symbolism of the tribute, Dalmia Cement also undertook the restoration of 78 flag podiums in schools and public spaces across the country. The drive ensured that the tricolour continues to inspire pride, unity, and patriotism among future generations.

Through ‘Saluting 78’, Dalmia Cement not only paid homage to the nation’s defenders but also reinforced its 85-year legacy of nation-building and its enduring commitment to empowering communities and strengthening the spirit of India.
