Scan Global Logistics (SGL), a globally renowned logistics service provider, has announced its entry into India, underscoring its commitment to sustained strategic growth. This significant milestone highlights SGL’s long-standing objective of building a direct presence in the Indian market while further consolidating its standing as a leading global freight forwarder.
India, the world’s fifth-largest economy, continues to maintain an impressive GDP growth of 6–7% annually. Forecasts indicate that by 2075, the nation is set to become the world’s second-largest economy, boasting a purchasing power 30% higher than that of the United States. Against this backdrop of economic expansion, SGL’s foray into India comes at a crucial juncture, as the country strengthens its position in global trade with surging foreign investments and rising demand for dependable, efficient logistics solutions.
By establishing operations in India, SGL is uniquely positioned to cater to both multinational corporations operating within the country and Indian enterprises seeking to expand their footprint internationally. Its solutions are designed to complement India’s dynamic growth trajectory, offering value-driven services tailored to diverse market needs.

The company is launching its India operations with a robust foundation, opening three offices across Chennai, Delhi, and Mumbai—where the latter will serve as its national head office. The local leadership team comprises seasoned industry professionals who bring decades of expertise from reputed organizations such as Maersk, CEVA Logistics, and Rhenus Logistics.
“All along, setting up operations in India has been a top priority for SGL,” said Allan Melgaard, Global CEO of Scan Global Logistics. “We wanted to enter the market with the right team—one that embodies our purpose, embraces a customer-first mindset, and carries the spirit of entrepreneurship. With these fundamentals in place, we believe this is the perfect time to begin our journey in India. Starting with three key locations, we have ambitious plans to expand rapidly across the country.”
Echoing this sentiment, Vikash Agarwal, CEO of Scan Global Logistics India, said, “Our entry into India marks a defining moment for Scan Global Logistics. This is an exciting market where speed, flexibility, and trusted relationships are of utmost importance. We are building an agile organization from the ground up—empowered to take swift decisions and deliver customized solutions that adapt to our customers’ evolving needs.”
The expansion into India is a logical progression in SGL’s overarching global growth strategy. Over the past year, the company has significantly strengthened its international presence through acquisitions, including Blu Brasil in Brazil, Foppiani Shipping & Logistics in Italy, and ITN Logistics in Canada. Establishing operations in India is thus a strategic next step, enabling the company to tap into a rapidly growing economy that is increasingly central to global supply chains. With strong local expertise supported by global capabilities, SGL India will deliver a comprehensive suite of solutions, with particular focus on Project Logistics and Humanitarian Logistics.
