In a major stride toward strengthening rural power infrastructure, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) has commissioned two new 33 kV feeder lines in the Pipili-Delang region under Phase IV of the Odisha Distribution System Strengthening Project (ODSSP), a flagship initiative of the State Government under the Mukhyamantri Shakti Vikas Yojana.
The newly energized lines connect the Satasankha Grid Substation (GSS) to Kumareswar Primary Substation (PSS) and Patnaik Chowk, with investments of Rs 6.6 crore and Rs 6.135 crore respectively. Spanning a total of 10.2 circuit kilometres, the infrastructure is set to significantly enhance the quality and reliability of electricity supply in the region.
The facilities were inaugurated by Pipili-Delang MLA Ashrit Pattanayak, who lauded the effort as a testament to the government’s commitment to rural development. “This project reflects the government’s and TPCODL’s shared vision of ensuring uninterrupted, quality power to the people of Pipili, Sakhigopal and Satasankha,” he said.
With these new feeders in place, approximately 14,000 consumers in Sakhigopal and another 12,000 in Satasankha are expected to benefit from improved voltage stability and reduced outage frequency. The development also provides the capacity to accommodate future demand growth in these fast-developing semi-urban and rural belts.
TPCODL officials emphasized that the project aligns with their broader mission to modernize Odisha’s power distribution system, especially in rural and underserved areas. The Discom remain committed to deploying reliable infrastructure that enhances customer experience and supports economic growth across our network, a company statement said.
The initiative marks another milestone in TPCODL’s efforts to build a resilient and responsive power distribution framework across central Odisha.
