TPCODL conducts safety checks, educates public on responsible electricity use

With the onset of the festive season, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has initiated a series of proactive measures to ensure public safety and uninterrupted power supply. Comprehensive inspections were undertaken across Puja Pandals, vending zones, and marketplaces in prominent areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, including Unit-1, Unit-2, Badagada, Rasulgarh, Khandagiri, Baramunda, Chandrasekharpur, Powerhouse Square, CRP Square, Badambadi, Dolamundai, Ranihat, Buxibazar, Choudhury Bazar, CDA, and Bidanasi.

To strengthen vigilance, the company has deployed dedicated monitoring squads in high-footfall areas for close supervision of temporary electricity connections during the celebrations. These actions are directed at minimizing risks of fire hazards, overloading, and potential power disruptions.

The inspection drives specifically examined the safety of temporary electrical setups, with emphasis on correct wiring, load distribution, and effective earthing arrangements. Alongside, TPCODL teams actively interacted with Puja committees and local vendors, sensitizing them about safe and responsible power usage during large public gatherings. In a bid to spread greater awareness, the company also distributed leaflets and circulated safety advisories in selected locations.

“Festivals are occasions of joy, but safety must remain the foremost priority. This initiative is designed to avert electrical mishaps while also promoting lawful electricity use, which benefits both the public and the power system as a whole,” said Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL.

Reiterating its commitment, TPCODL urged citizens, event organizers, and street vendors to rely solely on authorized electricity connections and immediately report any unsafe or illegal practices. The company affirmed its resolve to consistently deliver safe, dependable, and high-quality electricity services to all consumers across Central Odisha.
