TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a collaboration between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has launched an array of proactive safety initiatives to ensure a seamless and safe power supply during the upcoming festival season. These measures aim to safeguard public safety and prevent power disruptions during one of the busiest times of the year.

In a statement underscoring its commitment to public welfare, TPCODL has issued crucial safety guidelines, urging event organizers and vendors to secure legal temporary power connections for pandals and temporary stalls. The company has emphasized the serious risks associated with illegal hook-ups, warning that such practices not only violate the law but also pose life-threatening hazards, increase fire risks, and can severely impact the stability of the power supply.

In line with these efforts, TPCODL has mobilized dedicated teams to monitor power distribution, assist in securing temporary connections, and prevent unauthorized power usage. The company has outlined key safety protocols to be followed during the festive season, including the use of licensed electricians for wiring and testing, ensuring that pandals are not erected under electrical lines, maintaining safe distances from electrical installations, and prioritizing the use of legal temporary connections for all lighting and electrical setups. For added safety, the use of 30 mA Residual Current Circuit Breakers (RCCBs), proper earthing, and the installation of fire extinguishers are strongly recommended.

In addition, TPCODL has urged festival organizers to avoid the use of metallic pipes and rods in flags to prevent accidental contact with live electrical wires and to adopt energy-efficient LED lights for illumination. The company has also reiterated its firm stance against illegal hook-ups, which it views as a major safety threat during large public gatherings.

To further ensure the safety of residents and event participants, TPCODL has enhanced its 24×7 Call Centre, which can be reached at 1912 or 1800-345-7122, to handle emergency requests and provide timely assistance during the festive season.

Arvind Singh, CEO of TPCODL, expressed his dedication to ensuring a safe and joyous festival season, saying, “At TPCODL, safety remains our top priority. We urge all citizens, event organizers, and vendors to strictly adhere to the safety guidelines and opt for legal temporary power connections. Together, we can create a safe and vibrant atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.”

TPCODL’s proactive steps are a part of its ongoing efforts to enhance public safety, ensuring that the festive season is not only a time for celebration but also one of secure and uninterrupted power supply. The company extends its warm wishes to the people of Odisha for a safe and joyful celebration.
