TPCODL’s Project Daksh and Odisha Green Jobs Academy empower rural youth with skills for a sustainable future

TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, is driving social transformation through its flagship CSR initiatives – Project Daksh and the Odisha Green Jobs Academy. These programs are equipping rural youth and women with industry-ready skills, unlocking pathways to employment, financial independence, and sustainable livelihoods.

Launched in September 2023, TPCODL’s network of Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in Angul, Khordha, and Cuttack districts delivers short-term, industry-aligned courses meeting National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) Level 3 standards. Training modules cover high-demand trades such as facility management, plumbing, electric vehicle servicing, and solar panel installation – skills that are both relevant and future-oriented.

To date, 440 young men and women have successfully completed training, earned certification, and secured placements with leading companies. While Project Daksh emphasizes practical skills for formal sector jobs, the Odisha Green Jobs Academy focuses on environmentally sustainable trades like solar energy systems and EV maintenance, aligning with India’s green transition goals.

The impact is evident in the stories of its beneficiaries. “I have not only gained a profession but also the confidence to stand on my own,” says Priti Gocchayat, a certified Security Guard. Trainer Tushar Ranjan Ojha praises the program’s ability to transform rural youth into skilled professionals capable of earning better wages and building stable careers.
