Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive community development, Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of the Aditya Birla Group, organized a mega health camp at Nuagaon village under Kashipur Block in Rayagada district. The initiative was spearheaded by UAIL’s Mines CSR wing as part of its sustained efforts to strengthen healthcare access in remote and underserved areas.

The health camp was inaugurated in the presence of the local Sarpanch and Samiti members, reflecting strong community participation and support. Senior UAIL officials, including Unit Head Rabi Narayan Mishra, AVP – Corporate Affairs Suparna Nanda, Baphlimali Mines Head Vijay Chauhan, Chief Medical Officer of Utkal Hospital Dr. Rajendra Lenka, Head of Utkal Hospital, Nuapada Dr. Rajendra Mandal, and Mines CSR Head Manoj Das, were present on the occasion, underscoring the company’s leadership-driven approach to social responsibility.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents of Maikanch and Kodipari Panchayats, covering 39 surrounding villages of Nuagaon, along with students from two nearby schools. Hundreds of beneficiaries availed themselves of comprehensive health check-ups conducted by specialist doctors from general medicine, dermatology, paediatrics, and gynaecology. In addition to clinical examinations, free medicines were distributed, and patients received personalized medical advice. Where necessary, referrals for further treatment were also provided to ensure continuity of care.

Nuagaon and its adjoining areas face persistent challenges due to limited healthcare infrastructure, often compelling residents to travel long distances for even basic medical services. In the absence of timely diagnosis and treatment, minor ailments frequently escalate into prolonged health issues. Recognizing this critical gap, UAIL’s mega health camp emerged as a timely and proactive intervention aimed at improving healthcare outreach and early medical intervention in the region.

The presence of experienced specialist doctors and the availability of essential medicines brought much-needed relief to the local population. Villagers expressed their appreciation for the initiative, acknowledging the positive impact such camps have on their overall well-being and quality of life.

The successful execution of the camp was further strengthened by the active involvement of Project Head M. Devi Priya, Nirupama Barik, Dillip Nayak, and all members of the Punaruthan Project, who extended wholehearted support to ensure smooth operations.

Through initiatives like this mega health camp, UAIL continues to play a pivotal role in advancing community welfare, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable and inclusive development in the mining-affected regions of Odisha.
