In a heartening push toward inclusive development, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has empowered differently-abled individuals across Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha by distributing mobility and hearing assistive devices. The initiative marks a significant stride in strengthening accessibility, independence, and dignity for community members with special needs.
As part of this outreach, Vedanta Aluminium provided wheelchairs and hearing aids to 20 beneficiaries from Chattabar, Kudaloi, Piplimal, and Banjari Gram Panchayats. The company has announced that an additional 30 individuals will soon be supported, expanding the impact of the programme and enabling more residents to lead self-reliant lives.
The distribution event, held in the presence of Dr. Abhilash, Medical Officer at the Primary Health Centre in Bileimunda, Piplimal Sarpanch Rangadhar Dila, ASHA workers, and local community members, highlighted the collaborative spirit between Vedanta and grassroots institutions. Their joint efforts underscore the shared commitment to fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment.
Emphasizing the company’s long-standing dedication to community welfare Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajiv Kumar said, “At Vedanta, our social impact programmes are rooted in creating equitable opportunities for communities. Supporting differently-abled persons with mobility and hearing aids empowers them to live independently and strengthens community inclusion and empowerment.”
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Abhilash noted the transformative power of such initiatives, saying, “Access to the right assistive devices can significantly improve mobility, communication and overall quality of life for differently-abled persons. Vedanta’s initiative is a meaningful step towards enabling healthier, more independent lives within the community.”
