Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has successfully conducted a comprehensive Malaria, Dengue, and Diarrhoea Awareness Campaign across its operational areas, reaffirming its strong commitment to the health and well-being of local communities. The week-long campaign extended across 28 villages, two special schools, and one old age home, directly impacting over 3,000 individuals through interactive awareness sessions and practical demonstrations.

The initiative aimed to educate the community on mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue, as well as hygiene-related illnesses like diarrhoea. Participants were informed about disease transmission, early symptoms, and practical prevention methods, including mosquito control and the importance of eliminating stagnant water. Demonstrations on proper handwashing techniques and sanitation practices were conducted in every location. Sessions were delivered in local languages and customized for various age groups, with informative leaflets distributed to reinforce key messages.

Sharing his thoughts on the initiative, Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Aluminium, said: “At Vedanta Aluminium, our approach to community development is rooted in creating long-term impact through inclusive efforts. Good health and hygiene are foundational for thriving communities. Through initiatives like this awareness campaign, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to prevent disease and improve their quality of life.”

Dr. Jayanarayan Pujari, a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) doctor who led the campaign, added: “These sessions addressed critical knowledge gaps by presenting vital health practices in a simple, relatable way. Many participants were unaware of how small changes — such as handwashing or keeping water containers covered — can significantly reduce health risks. It was heartening to see both children and adults actively participate, engage in discussions, and show a strong willingness to adopt healthier habits.”*

The campaign significantly enhanced community awareness and promoted responsible health practices at the grassroots level. Feedback from participants reflected not only a deeper understanding of disease prevention but also a clear commitment to adopting better hygiene routines—contributing to improved public health outcomes. This initiative forms part of Vedanta Aluminium’s broader community development framework, encompassing health, education, livelihood, and social empowerment programs aimed at fostering lasting positive impact. Through these interventions, the company continues to strengthen its pledge to community welfare.
