In a significant step towards improving healthcare access in remote areas, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, organised a mega health camp at the Mundherkhet Gram Panchayat Office in Hemgir block of Sundargarh district. Over 200 residents from Mundherkhet, Jharpalam, Garjanjore, and neighbouring villages benefitted from the day-long camp, which delivered a wide range of free medical services.

The health camp was inaugurated by Chinmay Kumar Mishra, Assistant Executive Engineer, Hemgir, alongside Sanyasi Bag, Sarpanch of Munderkhet GP, who lauded the initiative for its timely outreach to underserved populations.

In collaboration with medical professionals and the local administration, Vedanta Aluminium offered specialised consultations in orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, ENT, and tuberculosis care, coupled with free distribution of essential medicines. The event also featured educational sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention, encouraging a culture of preventive healthcare among villagers.

Emphasizing the company’s unwavering commitment to community health,  Vedanta Aluminium COO Sunil Gupta said, “At Vedanta, we recognise the fundamental importance of ensuring accessible healthcare for all. Through such mega health camps, we strive to bolster rural healthcare and create a lasting positive impact on the well-being of our communities. Sharing his appreciation, Sanyasi Bag  said, “Access to quality healthcare is a challenge in our area, especially for the elderly and women. I thank Vedanta for bringing this camp to our community. It ensured that people received quality medical care and guidance without having to leave the village. This initiative was timely and well-executed.”

The health camp forms part of Vedanta Aluminium’s broader social impact agenda, which spans education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, infrastructure development, and promotion of sports and culture. These efforts underline the company’s vision of inclusive and sustainable growth in Odisha.
