Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has inaugurated a cutting-edge Driver Welfare Complex within its Jharsuguda operations. Equipped with modern training, rest, and hygiene facilities, the initiative underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence, safety, and the well-being of its vital logistics partners—who ensure seamless functioning at one of the world’s largest aluminium manufacturing hubs.
Thoughtfully conceived and meticulously executed, the newly established complex is designed to significantly uplift the working environment and comfort of the driver community. It features a fully functional Driver Management Centre that will host regular training programs and skill-enhancement sessions. To address long waiting hours, the facility provides spacious rest areas with capacity for up to 80 drivers. A well-appointed canteen, capable of serving 42 individuals at a time, along with access to clean drinking water and a newly constructed washroom facility at the main truck parking area, further ensure access to essential hygiene and sanitation resources.

Commenting on the development, Sunil Gupta, CEO – Vedanta Jharsuguda and COO – Vedanta Aluminium, stated, “Our operations are supported by an extensive multi-modal logistics network, critical for both inbound material sourcing and outbound product dispatches across India and globally. Drivers form the backbone of this network. This facility reflects our commitment to providing them a clean, secure, and respectful environment that prioritises their comfort and welfare.”
Sharing his experience, Balram Sahu, a long-standing driver affiliated with Vedanta Aluminium, remarked, “Vedanta consistently looks after our needs and ensures a conducive work environment. The new facility is not only comfortable but also thoughtfully designed, making our daily routines significantly easier. We are grateful for this initiative.”
This milestone forms part of a comprehensive series of initiatives undertaken by Vedanta Aluminium to reinforce road safety and enhance the logistics ecosystem. In August 2024, the company launched a state-of-the-art LMV and HMV Simulation Training Centre, enabling drivers to refine their skills through advanced digital modules. That same month, a Driver Management Centre was established within the operations, now catering to approximately 400 drivers daily. Additionally, during Road Safety Awareness Month in February 2025, Vedanta engaged over 12,000 individuals through awareness drives, health camps, and training programs held in collaboration with local authorities and transport associations.
Vedanta Aluminium continues to invest in top-tier infrastructure while nurturing an inclusive and responsible ecosystem for all stakeholders. The inauguration of the Driver Welfare Complex at Jharsuguda stands as a testament to the company’s deep-rooted values and its commitment to fostering sustainable and people-centric operations.
