Vedanta Aluminium plants over 1 lakh trees in two months under ‘Mo Gachha, Mo Parivar’ campaign

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has successfully completed its mega plantation drive under the “Mo Gachha, Mo Parivar” (My Family, My Tree) campaign at its Lanjigarh operations in Odisha. The large-scale initiative underscores the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community wellbeing, with over one lakh saplings planted across 80 villages in Rayagada and Kalahandi districts.

The campaign witnessed active participation from 294 stakeholders, including panchayat representatives, government officials, community leaders, and volunteers. Together, they reached more than 4,000 households and engaged nearly 20,000 community members, fostering a collective sense of responsibility towards protecting the environment.

The plantation drive is expected to absorb close to 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent annually, making a meaningful contribution to climate action and sustainable development. Alongside boosting the region’s green cover, the initiative also promoted environmental education, biodiversity, health, and resilience through awareness sessions, sapling distribution, and on-ground support for plantation and care.
