Vedanta Aluminium’s mega health camp benefits over 200 people in Odisha’s tribal villages

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, organised a free multispecialty mega health camp at Gunpur village in Kalahandi district, in collaboration with the District Health Administration, Kalahandi, and Swaraj Hospital, Balangir. The camp provided quality healthcare services to more than 200 beneficiaries from 26 villages across Thuamul Rampur and Kashipur blocks.

The initiative aimed to bridge healthcare gaps in remote tribal regions, offering free consultations and medical check-ups across multiple specialisations, including orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, ENT, and chest and tuberculosis care. Free medicines were also distributed to patients.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Pradosh Kumar Panda, Block Public Health Officer (CHC Thuamul Rampur), in the presence of local healthcare professionals and community representatives, highlighting a collaborative effort to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.

So far, Vedanta Aluminium has conducted over 35 health camps across Rayagada and Kalahandi districts, providing free consultations, medicines, and diagnostic services in underserved regions. The company also organises regular specialised eye camps for early detection and treatment of vision-related issues and partners with the government on key health programmes such as ‘Swarna Prashan’. Complemented by mobile health units and awareness drives, these initiatives reflect Vedanta Aluminium’s holistic approach to community health.
