Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has once again underscored its commitment to enhancing educational standards with the expansion of its flagship ‘Project Vidya’. As part of the initiative, 10 additional teachers have been deployed across 10 government schools in the Kuraloi region of Jharsuguda district. This strategic intervention aims to improve student-teacher ratios, boost learning outcomes, and strengthen key subjects such as Maths, Science, and English, benefitting more than 1000 students.
The formal appointment of the newly deployed teachers took place at a ceremony held at Khairkuni High School. The event was attended by prominent figures including Sanatna Naik, Sarpanch of Kuraloi, along with representatives from AJKA, local community leaders, headmasters of the beneficiary schools, and members of School Management Committees.
This move follows the success of Project Vidya’s earlier expansion in April 2025, where 22 additional teachers were deployed across 20 schools in the nearby Ghogharpalli and Jamkhani areas, impacting over 2000 students. The programme’s expansion into Kuraloi aims to extend its reach, providing quality educational support to more students across Piplimal, Kuraloi, and Banjari panchayats. The initiative now includes a range of schools, from primary and upper primary to ashram and high schools.
With this extension, Vedanta Aluminium seeks to strengthen foundational learning, ensuring consistent access to high-quality education for children in rural Jharsuguda. The focus is on creating a lasting impact, shaping the future of students in these underserved communities.
Emphasizing the company’s dedication to fostering social progress through education, Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rajiv Kumar said, “At Vedanta, we believe education is the foundation of societal growth. Through Project Vidya, we aim to improve teaching resources in rural Odisha, providing students with the tools they need to succeed and ultimately shaping a brighter future for the communities we serve.”
Kuraloi Sarpanch Sanatna Naik expressed his enthusiasm for the programme, saying, “Project Vidya is a much-needed initiative for our schools. With more teachers in place, our students will receive focused attention, enabling them to strengthen their understanding of core subjects. This step will significantly contribute to improving education in our region.”
Vedanta Aluminium continues to drive positive change in Odisha with a wide range of social impact initiatives, focusing on education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, rural infrastructure, and grassroots sports and culture. The company works in close partnership with local authorities and community stakeholders to ensure that its efforts lead to meaningful socio-economic progress in the areas surrounding its operations.
