Vedanta Aluminium’s ‘Project Vidyagraha’ brings digital learning to rural classrooms in Jharsuguda

True progress in society begins when every child is given an equitable opportunity to learn from quality educational resources. Guided by this belief, Vedanta Aluminium has been transforming rural education through Project Vidyagraha, a pioneering digital learning initiative that is reshaping access to knowledge for thousands of students across Jharsuguda district.

Launched in 2022, Project Vidyagraha has so far delivered more than 300 pre-recorded lessons in Mathematics, Science, and English as digital learning modules, designed to supplement classroom teaching and make complex subjects easier to grasp. These resources, accessed over 21,000 times, have reached more than 12,000 students across 106 government schools spread across five blocks of Jharsuguda district. By bridging traditional teaching with digital content, the program empowers students to learn at their own pace, revisit challenging topics, and gain confidence in their academic abilities.

The results of this effort are evident in inspiring student journeys. At Kailash Bhai Jaiswal Government High School in Laikera, Aliv Ranjan Pruseth scored an outstanding 93.33% in his board examinations this year, attributing his success to Vidyagraha’s video lessons and community classes that provided much-needed clarity. “The lessons explained everything step by step. If I did not understand something the first time, I could go back and learn it again, gaining confidence,” Aliv shared. Similarly, at the Municipal High School in Ekatali, Madhusmita Dalai, who also achieved 93.33% in her board exams, credited the program’s blended learning model for keeping her motivated and supported. “With the app and classes, I felt supported at every step. The clear guidance and consistent encouragement helped me to do better,” she said.

These success stories highlight the transformation enabled by Vedanta’s initiative. Teachers across Jharsuguda are witnessing a noticeable shift in classrooms, with students displaying greater engagement, improved academic results, and a renewed sense of curiosity towards learning.

Reflecting on the program’s impact, C. The district recorded an impressive 97.87% pass rate in the 2024-25 Annual High School Certificate examinations, securing the 3rd position in Odisha. This achievement underscores the far-reaching impact of combining technology, accessibility, and purpose-driven innovation in education.
