Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, celebrated the nation’s 79th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic zeal at its Jharsuguda operations on Friday. The celebrations were preceded by a week-long series of initiatives designed to inspire self-reliance, instil pride, and foster unity among employees, business partners, and the local community.
In the run-up to the occasion, Vedanta organised an array of engaging programmes that blended the spirit of independence with the message of empowerment and sustainability. These included self-defence training sessions for women to enhance their confidence and resilience, awareness workshops on health and well-being, and a large-scale plantation drive to promote a greener future. A flag rally and bike rally through Jharsuguda town further amplified the patriotic spirit, with the active participation of Vedanta employees and community members. The event was graced by senior district officials including Kunal Motiram Chavan, Collector and District Magistrate, and Parmar Smit Parshottamdas, Superintendent of Police.
On Independence Day, Vedanta Jharsuguda witnessed vibrant celebrations marked by the hoisting of the national flag, a disciplined march-past parade by the plant’s security team, and captivating cultural performances including patriotic dances and songs. The event also honoured members of the security and safety teams who were recognised for their outstanding contributions and exemplary service in upholding safety and discipline at the plant.
