Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has lauded the stellar performance of young athletes from its Jharsuguda-based Vedanta Martial Arts Training Centre, who showcased remarkable discipline and sporting prowess at the National Karate Federation (NKF) East Zone Karate Championship 2025. The prestigious event, held at Birbhum Indoor Stadium in West Bengal, witnessed the Vedanta contingent clinching an impressive 12 medals — 7 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze — placing the training centre among the top performers of the tournament.
Organised by NKF and supported by the Physical Education Foundation of India in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, the championship drew participation from talented youngsters across Odisha, West Bengal, and Bihar.

The medal-winning students from Vedanta’s Martial Arts Training Centre brought pride to Jharsuguda with their commendable performances. Ishmeet Singh (11) won gold in Kata and bronze in Kumite; Muktikant Nayak (16) bagged three golds in Kata, Kumite, and Team Kata; Diptesh Sahu (19) claimed two golds in Kumite and Team Kata, along with silver in Kata; Sourav Das (16) secured silver in Kata and bronze in Kumite; while nine-year-old Reddy Kamlesh Pradhan won silver in Kata and bronze in Kumite.
Congratulating the achievers, C. Sharing his joy, gold medallist Diptesh Sahu said: “Winning gold at such a prestigious competition has been a dream come true. The training and support I have received at the Vedanta Martial Arts Centre have strengthened my belief in my abilities and taught me the value of focus. I now aspire to represent my state and country at bigger platforms.”
The Vedanta Martial Arts Training Centre, an integral part of the company’s community development programme in Jharsuguda, offers structured coaching in Karate, Taekwondo, and Grappling to over 110 children aged 10 and above. The initiative emphasizes not only physical fitness but also mental resilience and competitive spirit.
This sporting initiative is part of Vedanta Aluminium’s broader social interventions spanning education, healthcare, livelihood, skill development, grassroots sports, art and culture, with a focus on women and child development. The company’s community development programmes reach nearly 80 villages around Jharsuguda, positively impacting more than 3.5 lakh people every year.
