Walkathon and “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive highlight Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 at NTPC Bongaigaon

As part of the nationwide observance of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ and the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, NTPC Bongaigaon organized a series of impactful activities reaffirming its pledge towards a cleaner and greener environment. The programme, conducted under the aegis of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 from September 17 to October 2, 2025, echoed Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness, sustainability, and collective responsibility.

A Walkathon was held across the station and township premises to create awareness about the significance of cleanliness, waste segregation, and sustainable living practices. The initiative was spearheaded by Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, and witnessed spirited participation from Heads of Departments, Union and Association representatives, members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, and employees along with their families. Carrying placards and raising slogans, participants spread the message of community action in ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment.

In alignment with the plantation campaign themed “One Tree in the Name of Mother”, a Mass Plantation Drive was undertaken, coordinated by the Environment Management Group (EMG) Department. The activity saw the plantation of more than 100 saplings within the township area near the power station. Senior leaders, employees, and volunteers joined hands to make the initiative a success, underlining NTPC Bongaigaon’s role as a responsible corporate citizen. The plantation drive, conducted under the slogan #Plant4Mother, not only added to the green cover but also strengthened the symbolic bond of love and care towards Mother Earth.

Adding momentum to the plantation initiative, a large-scale Cleanliness Drive was organized under the banner Swachhotsav – Celebrating a Clean, Green & Healthy Future for All. Employees, CISF personnel, and members of the local community actively participated by cleaning public areas and sensitizing residents on best practices in waste management. The effort reinforced the idea that both individual and collective actions are critical in shaping a sustainable tomorrow.

The observance of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ at NTPC Bongaigaon thus showcased the company’s unwavering dedication to community welfare, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. By conducting the Walkathon, Mass Plantation Drive, and Cleanliness Activities in and around its township, NTPC Bongaigaon once again reaffirmed its contribution to the national mission of building a cleaner, greener, and healthier India.
