Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday called upon newly appointed government officials to embrace compassion, excellence, continuous learning, and integrity as defining pillars of their public service careers. Addressing thousands of recruits at the 12th Recruitment Fair and Training Program–2025 held at Kalinga Stadium, the Chief Minister delivered a motivational message aimed at shaping a workforce committed to people-centric governance.
In a major boost to state employment generation, 7,293 individuals received appointment letters across 12 government departments, reinforcing the administration’s steady push to expand opportunities for Odisha’s youth. The new officials will join critical sectors such as law enforcement, education, agriculture, and healthcare — areas central to the state’s public service delivery.
Calling compassion the foundation of good governance, Majhi urged recruits to keep the people’s interests at the core of every decision. “Your service should be people-centred. Serve with empathy and fairness,” he said, emphasizing that government officials must remain grounded in the realities and aspirations of the citizens they serve.
He also underscored the importance of setting high professional standards. “Always aim for excellence in your work,” Majhi said, encouraging the new entrants to cultivate discipline, dedication, and a commitment to measurable results. He reminded them that expanding their knowledge and skills would remain essential for both personal growth and effective service. “Timely acquisition of knowledge is key to your growth,” he added.
Addressing the adverse impacts of corruption, the Chief Minister issued a stern warning. Describing corruption as “poison,” he cautioned that it could destroy both careers and reputations. He urged the recruits to uphold transparency and honesty, stating that clean governance must be reflected in their everyday actions.
Highlighting the state’s employment drive, Majhi said 37,325 youth had already secured jobs through 12 recruitment fairs held over the last 17 months, marking unprecedented progress toward the government’s goal of creating 65,000 jobs within two years. “Such a large number of government jobs has never been created in such a short period of time,” he noted.
Majhi further outlined the government’s long-term employment strategy, pointing to the grounding of industrial projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore, expected to generate jobs for 1.5 lakh youth. “Our focus is not just on government jobs but also on building a strong industrial base that can offer long-term employment,” he said.
Several ministers also addressed the gathering, echoing the Chief Minister’s message of service and responsibility. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo urged recruits to remain deeply committed to public welfare, while School and Mass Education Minister Nityanand Gond highlighted the government’s push to strengthen manpower in the education system. Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Gokulanand Mallick applauded the determination of the recruits, encouraging them to strive for excellence.
At the ceremony, the Chief Minister personally handed over appointment letters to 30 newly selected candidates, adding a personal touch to the occasion.
For many recruits, the moment was emotional and fulfilling. Banasingh Majhi, Sasmita Pradhan, Devendra Podiami, and Anwesha Roy—appointed across different departments — expressed gratitude to the state government for ensuring a transparent recruitment process that enabled them to achieve their career goals.
