The Odisha government is gearing up for the next phase of its electric mobility mission with the formulation of the Odisha Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0. At a stakeholder consultation held on Wednesday, Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Commerce & Transport Department, underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination and active private sector participation to ensure a smooth and inclusive transition to electric mobility in the State.
The consultation brought together senior officials and industry experts to deliberate on strategies for strengthening Odisha’s EV ecosystem. Among those present were Transport Commissioner Amitav Thakur, OSRTC CMD NBPS Rajput, CRUT MD Sanjay Biswal, and senior representatives from the Housing & Urban Development, Energy, Finance, and Skill Development & Technical Education Departments.
The discussions focused on key areas such as enhanced purchase incentives for EV buyers, vehicle retro-fitment and scrappage policies, the expansion of charging infrastructure under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, and the establishment of a dedicated State EV Fund to ensure the long-term viability of electric mobility initiatives.
Padhee emphasized the need for capacity building, cross-sectoral synergy, and policy alignment to position Odisha as a leader in India’s clean mobility transformation. She noted that effective collaboration between government departments and private stakeholders would be crucial to accelerating EV adoption across transport, logistics, and public mobility segments.
The meeting marked an important step toward finalizing the Odisha EV Policy 2.0, which aims to propel the State toward a cleaner, greener transportation future in alignment with the Viksit Odisha 2036 vision.
