In a thrilling display of skill, teamwork, and determination, NTPC Bongaigaon Football Club (NTPC FC) has been crowned champions of the “A Division” Inter-Club Football League 2025 under the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA). The victory marks a remarkable milestone for the team, which was formed under NTPC Bongaigaon’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and nurtured through its Sports Council.

Football — deeply woven into the cultural fabric of Bodoland and the North East — found new heroes this season as NTPC FC lifted the champion’s trophy after an unbeaten run, playing nine matches with seven wins and two draws, and securing 23 points — a clear lead over its closest rival. With this triumph, the team has earned a promotion to the Super Division League, cementing its position among the region’s elite football clubs.

Founded in 2014 by football enthusiasts among NTPC employees, NTPC FC has evolved into a platform for grooming young rural talents from Salakati, Kokrajhar, and nearby areas. The initiative exemplifies NTPC’s sustained efforts to promote sports and youth empowerment under its CSR vision.

The team’s success this season was powered by emerging stars Dinti Hazowary and Dhananjay Brahma, who each netted eight goals, reflecting the depth of talent being nurtured through NTPC’s mentoring ecosystem. To enhance performance, the NTPC Bongaigaon Sports Council, in collaboration with KDSA, appointed a dedicated coach to blend professional training with local passion and energy.

The championship trophy was presented to Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, who lauded the team’s discipline, commitment, and journey “from grassroots to glory.” Congratulating the players, he said the achievement not only brings pride to NTPC but also inspires the local community to pursue excellence in sports.

Also present on the occasion were Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR, members of the NTPC Sports Council, and representatives of the Station’s Union and Association, who joined in celebrating the club’s historic win.
