Vedanta Lanjigarh Archery Initiative clinches ‘Overall Champion’ title at Odisha School Archery Championship

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, is celebrating a significant triumph for its grassroots sports initiative in Lanjigarh as young archers from its programme emerged as the ‘Overall Champion’ at the Odisha School Archery Championship. Held in Sundargarh and organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), the competition saw archers from Kalahandi district dominate with a remarkable tally of 8 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal.

This impressive achievement highlights the success of Vedanta Lanjigarh’s flagship Sports Training Initiative, which offers expert coaching, world-class equipment, and access to competitive platforms. Through this initiative, Vedanta remains committed to nurturing local talent and empowering young athletes in the region. The success of these young archers underscores the vast potential of Kalahandi’s youth and the transformative impact of structured, professional training.

Launched in 2018, Vedanta’s Sports Training Initiative identifies promising young athletes from underserved communities, providing them with expert coaching in disciplines such as archery and athletics, alongside access to quality equipment and training infrastructure. The programme has facilitated the participation of more than 100 young archers in state and national championships, with over 50 medals won in the past year alone. This continued success reaffirms Vedanta’s dedication to grassroots sports development and its role in fostering the next generation of sporting champions.
