In a strategic leap into India’s emerging digital mobility infrastructure, Jio Payments Bank Ltd (JPBL), a subsidiary of Jio Financial Services, has secured a prestigious contract to implement FASTag-based Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems for Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling at two key plazas between Gurugram and Jaipur.

The contract, awarded by the Indian Highways Management Company Ltd (IHMCL), covers the Shahjahanpur and Manoharpura toll plazas under India’s pilot MLFF project — a next-generation initiative that enables vehicles to pay tolls seamlessly without stopping, thereby eliminating physical toll booths and traffic bottlenecks.

Jio Financial Services, in a regulatory filing, said that JPBL’s success in securing two out of five MLFF bids awarded so far underscores its growing strength in the digital tolling space. The company added that this milestone builds on JPBL’s FASTag acquisition-based toll processing operations launched in July 2025.

Currently, JPBL manages toll operations at 11 toll plazas across different national highway stretches as an acquirer bank. The addition of these MLFF projects is set to further strengthen its presence in India’s evolving infrastructure-linked digital payments ecosystem.

Commenting on the development, Vinod Easwaran, Managing Director and CEO of Jio Payments Bank, said, “Our expansion into the tolling ecosystem is a natural progression of our mission to digitise everyday payments and build smart financial infrastructure at scale. By leveraging the synergy of digital capabilities within the Jio group ecosystem, we are actively building capabilities to participate in India’s evolving mobility landscape.”
