Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Nokh Solar Park, developed by Rajasthan Solar Park Development Company Limited (RSDCL), at Phalodi, Rajasthan, on Thursday. The project, led by NTPC, aims to generate 735 MW of solar capacity.
On the same occasion, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for ASHVINI’s Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (MBRAPP) – a 4×700 MW nuclear power facility at Banswara, Rajasthan. With an investment of approximately Rs 42,000 crore, the MBRAPP will become one of the largest nuclear power plants in the country, providing reliable base-load energy. It will also reinforce India’s leadership in environmental stewardship and its growing nuclear energy sector.
The Nokh Solar Park, with a total capacity of 925 MW, is a significant step forward in India’s clean energy journey. The project is expected to produce substantial green energy while avoiding millions of tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. Developed by NTPC’s Northern Region Headquarters, it will also enhance energy security and generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, thus contributing to economic growth.
The project is being commissioned in phases, with more capacity coming online progressively. Upon full completion, it will play a vital role in NTPC’s expanding green energy portfolio and support the company’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, in alignment with the Government of India’s vision for energy transition.
With the commissioning of the Nokh Solar Park, NTPC further strengthens its position as a leading driver of India’s clean energy transformation and sustainable growth.
The inauguration event was attended by key dignitaries, including Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, MP (Jodhpur), who joined via video conference; Pabba Ram Bishnoi, MLA Phalodi; and Sukhram Pindel, SDM. The event was also virtually joined by Goutam Deb, Regional Executive Director (Northern Region), NTPC. Other notable attendees included M. Srinivas, Head of the Nokh Project; Samiran Sinha Ray, ROHR (HR) along with the NRHQ team; Ajay Kumar Shukla, GM (RE-PM); Ashok Kumar Gautam; and the Nokh project team.
