TPCODL ensures safe and seamless power supply for Rath Yatra 2025 with comprehensive safety and health measures

TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has implemented extensive safety and infrastructure initiatives to ensure uninterrupted and secure power supply during the Rath Yatra 2025 in Puri.

Deploying over 800 personnel on a round-the-clock basis, TPCODL has launched a robust safety campaign tailored specifically for the occasion. Key measures include leakage current testing, application of insulation paint on iron poles, and installation of distribution transformer (DT) fencing to ensure public safety. Fire extinguishers have also been strategically placed at critical points across the city.

To bolster supply reliability during the festival, the company has executed significant upgrades to its power infrastructure, including augmentation of feeders and both power and distribution transformers. In parallel, preventive and predictive maintenance activities have been undertaken to pre-empt faults. Relay protection settings have been rigorously tested and calibrated to eliminate false tripping and ensure consistent power flow.

To further enhance public safety and awareness during the grand festival, TPCODL has launched a multi-pronged outreach initiative throughout Puri. This includes the distribution of 1 lakh safety leaflets, continuous public announcements, and prominent display of safety posters and banners across the town.

Adding a cultural dimension to its awareness campaign, TPCODL has planned Nukad Nataks (street plays) during the Pali Shree Mela to engage and educate the public on electrical safety. Temporary barricading and insulation of exposed cables along the Grand Road have also been implemented to safeguard devotees, especially during high footfall periods.

Further strengthening its commitment to public welfare, TPCODL has deployed four Mobile Health Dispensaries (MHDs) — three stationed in Puri and one mobile unit for emergency response across its operational areas. These MHDs are equipped with consultation rooms, examination beds, and a dispensary counter, and are staffed by qualified doctors, nurses, and pharmacists.

Through these concerted efforts, TPCODL reaffirms its dedication to ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of devotees, while delivering seamless power supply and essential services during this iconic spiritual celebration.
