NTPC targets record 40 MMT coal production from captive mines in FY25

RANCHI, APRIL 07, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): NTPC, India’s foremost integrated power company, has unveiled an ambitious target of achieving 40 Million Metric Tons (MMT) of coal production from its captive mines for the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25). This bold objective signifies a remarkable 17 per cent growth in captive coal production compared to the previous fiscal.

The company’s strategic aim to produce 40 MMT of coal is poised to significantly bolster its coal reserves and further reinforce its position in the energy sector. Additionally, achieving this target will fulfill over 15 per cent of NTPC’s coal requirements through captive mines in FY25, substantially enhancing the power major’s fuel security.

NTPC’s recent achievements underscore its steadfast commitment to augmenting coal production from its captive mines. Notably, the company recorded an impressive coal dispatch of 34.15 MMT and coal production stood at 34.38 MMT by the end of March 31, 2024. This outstanding performance reflects NTPC’s relentless dedication to ensuring efficient coal supply to meet the nation’s growing energy demands.
