Prime Minister Modi is set to unveil NTPC’s latest endeavor, the 300 MW Nokhra Solar Project, on Friday, according to an official announcement.

Situated across 1,550 acres in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, this venture, executed by NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), comes as part of the CPSU Scheme (Phase-II) with an investment of Rs 1,803 crore, aiming to provide green energy to Telangana, as stated by NTPC.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the 300 MW Nokhra Solar Project of NTPC Green Energy Limited to the nation through video-conferencing on February 16, 2024,” the statement said.

Upon completion, the project is anticipated to yield 730 million units (MU) of green energy annually. Notably, it will illuminate over 1.3 lakh households while curbing 6 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. Over its 25-year lifespan, the initiative is projected to mitigate CO2 emissions by a whopping 15 million tonnes.

“Over 13 lakh solar PV modules have been installed in this project under the flagship Make-in-India programme, thereby strengthening Government of India’s resolve of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the statement said.

With an operational green capacity surpassing 3.4 GW and 26 GW in the pipeline, including 7 GW under construction, NGEL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, is playing a significant role in India’s green energy landscape.

NTPC Limited, India’s largest integrated power utility under the Ministry of Power, boasts an installed capacity of 74 GW, contributing a quarter of the nation’s total electricity output.
