The total approximate earnings in passenger segment for Indian Railways on originating basis during April-December 2022 was Rs. 48913 crore, registering an increase of 71 per cent in comparison to Rs. 28569 crore achieved in the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.
In reserved passenger segment, the total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April-December 2022 was 59.61 crore against 56.05 crore recorded in the same period last year, showing an increase of 6 per cent. The revenue generated from reserved passenger segment during the said period was 38483 crore as compared to 26400 crore in FY22, showing an increase of 46 per cent.
In Unreserved passenger segment, the total approximate numbers of passengers booked during April-December 2022 period was 40197 lakh as compared to 16968 lakh during the same period last year, showing an increase of 137 per cent. The revenue generated from Unreserved passenger segment during the said period was Rs 10430 crore against Rs 2169 crore in FY22, showing an increase of 381 per cent.
