Dalmia Cement celebrates International Women’s Day with commitment to empowerment and inclusivity

In a celebration of empowerment and inclusivity, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited (DCBL), India’s leading cement manufacturing company, hosted a series of special events at its Rajgangpur facility in Odisha to mark International Women’s Day. The event showcased initiatives dedicated to uplifting women and promoting gender equality in the communities surrounding DCBL’s operations.

17One of the key highlights of the program was the announcement of a hockey coaching center in Lanjiberna, aimed at nurturing budding talents within local communities.

Additionally, DCBL reaffirmed its commitment to skill development by presenting offer letters to 50 trainees who successfully completed training programs as General Duty Assistants and Sewing Machine Operators at the DIKSHa Center in Lanjiberna. Notably, all the trainees felicitated were women. The 20 Sewing Machine Operator trainees will be joining KPR Mill Limited in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, while the 30 General Duty Assistant trainees will be joining the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology Hospital, under La Mclean India Ltd, in Hyderabad.

The event was graced by former Indian female field hockey player & Olympian, Namita Toppo, alongside Azmina Kujur, who brought their valuable insights as Chief Guests.

Distinguished guests included Ganesh W. Jirkuntwar, Senior Executive Director & National Manufacturing Head DCBL, Chetan Shrivastav, Executive Director-DCBL, Dr. Niladri Bhushan Parhi, AED DCBL-Head HR Rajgangpur, and Omprakash Khelkar, Head-Lanjiberna Mines.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Ganesh W. Jirkuntwar said, “At Dalmia Cement, we are dedicated to promoting positive change within rural communities across regions of our operations. The day was marked by a range of social and cultural activities highlighting the pivotal role of women in driving positive change within their communities. From honouring women Sarpanches and Panchayat Samiti members for their exemplary service to showcasing the talents of female artisans through initiatives like Hastakala, the celebration underscored the vital role of women in shaping a more inclusive society.

Breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes, the event featured empowering moments such as the inaugural Gent’s Fashion Show, where women artisans proudly presented their handcrafted batik print creations, symbolizing their resilience and creativity. Videos showcasing DCBL’s flagship projects like Wadi, Drushti, Hastakala, Annadata, Bamboo Cultivation, DIKSHa, and various projects under Gram Parivartan were screened to demonstrate the transformative impact of various programs conducted by Dalmia Cement to uplift and support the communities, specifically women in the region.

The program concluded on a vibrant note with cultural performances, including a drama highlighting DCBL’s R&R scheme and facilities, as well as traditional dances like Sambalpuri and Sadri.
