The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), a premier professional body that was set up by an act of Parliament to develop and regulate company secretaries, will be opening an Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre (ADR Centre) in Kolkata, Guwahati and Bhubaneswar soon, ICSI national President Manish Gupta said at a press conference here on Friday on the eve of the ICSI – EIRC 32nd Annual Regional Conference.
With the opening of the Centre, ICSI members can tap the huge opportunity in the ADR space, he added.
The ICSI – EIRC 32nd Annual Regional Conference on “Company Secretary – the New Age Corporate Chanakya” will be held on August 12-13 at Puri. Dignitaries from trade and industry and from the regulatory authorities will deliberate at the two-day conference which will be attended by more than 300 delegates from the Eastern Region.
Odisha Law Minister Jagannath Saraka will grace the valedictory session of the conference on August 13, 2023.
ICSI – EIRC has been proactively organising various capacity-building programmes and placement drives for the benefit of ICSI students and members of the region. A mega placement drive was organized in Kolkata on 20 May 2023, where multiple organizations and PCS firms from the region participated as recruiters.
The EIRC also created mass awareness about the Company Secretary Course and Profession by conducting Career Awareness Programmes and participating in Career Fairs with a combined footfall of over 10,000 students, parents and teachers from Kolkata and nearby areas.
Notably, under the ICSI Bhubaneswar Chapter about 2500 students and in Odisha about 3000 students are pursuing Company Secretaryship course.
Among others, ICSI New Delhi Central Council Member Sandip Kumar Kejriwal, ICSI-EIRC Kolkata Chairman Soumya Sujit Mishra, ICSI Bhubaneswar Chapter Chairman Bimal Prasad Pattanaik and Secretary Rudra Madhab Sahoo were present during the press conference.
