JSP Foundation observes International Day of Persons with Disabilities

JSP Foundation, the social wing of Naveen Jindal-led Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2023 at its ‘Jindal Asha’ center in Jindal Nagar, here on Sunday.

On this occasion, more than 150 specially-abled children from the Chhendipada Block, along with their parents, participated in the awareness rally to sensitize the general public regarding the criticality of inclusive development and the need of empowering the people and children with special needs.

Chhendipada Block Education Officer Madhusmita Nanda and OP Jindal School Principal Dr. Sonali Basu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively and felicitated the winners of various competitions.

‘Jindal Asha’ is a rehabilitation center for children with special needs  in the periphery, providing complete rehabilitation care and mainstreaming  support. It not only offers transportation facilities to children from periphery villages to attend necessary therapy sessions but also ensures therapists make regular visits to the doorsteps of target children to monitor their improvement and provide assistance, if required.

On this day, children of ‘Jindal Asha’ enthusiastically participated in games such as Racing, Balloon Blast, Softball Throwing, Candle Blowing, Chocolate Race, Dancing, etc. and  received awards for their extraordinary skills.

JSP Foundation has been rehabilitating and mainstreaming children with special needs through its “Asha Hope” Centres in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. So far, more than 5,500 children have benefited from these units.

On the occasion of this  International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the  JSP Foundation Chairperson Shallu Jindal urged the people at large to amplify efforts towards achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to empower the Divyang brothers and sisters.

The programme at Angul, led by CSR Angul HoD in-charge Ashutosh Mishra, concluded with a vote of thanks from Tapas Mohanty,  the overall in charge of Education & Special Education programmes at Angul by the JSP Foundation.

To recall, the JSP Foundation recently won the prestigious Green Tech CSR Winner Award for its remarkable efforts in holistic empowerment of Divyang Jan.
