In a heart-warming event that exemplified the true spirit of the Olympic Games, five students from state-run schools of Odisha had the unique opportunity to interact with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach. This exceptional meeting was organized as a part of the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP), which has been transforming the lives of young students across the state.

They expressed how the program had not only enabled them to embrace the core values of the Olympics but had also motivated them to increase their physical activity and participation in sports.

During the interaction, the students had the opportunity to ask President Thomas Bach questions about his own Olympic journey and the importance of Olympic values in today’s world. Their inquisitive minds and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.

In a touching gesture, the children presented the IOC President with artwork they had created, showcasing their understanding of the Olympic values, as well as a comprehensive report on the ‘Model IOC Session’ that they had diligently prepared.

President Bach appreciated Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his initiatives in sports and youth empowerment, and partnership with the IOC on the OVEP and Odisha Ridley Forest Project (under which Odisha is contributing one million forest plantations with involvement of the local communities).

This event stands as a testament to the power of the Olympic Values Education Programme in shaping the character and aspirations of young minds, and Odisha’s unwavering support for the Olympic movement

Odisha Sports & Youth Services Secretary Vineel Krishna, Olympic Champion and ABFT Founder Abhinav Bindra, and IOC Athletes Commission Member were present on the occasion.
