MG Motor India and Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility join hands to strengthen EV ecosystem

GURGAON, APRIL 8, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In a significant step towards bolstering India’s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), a subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), and MG Motor India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration aims to develop charging solutions and value-added services for MG’s EV customers across the country, thereby contributing to the advancement of India’s evolving EV ecosystem.

Under the terms of the MoU, ATEL will install CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships to enhance the charging network and improve customer accessibility. This partnership will offer a comprehensive solution covering supply, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of charging infrastructure. Additionally, a digital platform will be introduced to facilitate a seamless customer experience, including discovery, user authentication, charging, and billing settlement through a dedicated mobile application.

In a bid to expand the public charging network, both entities will explore the potential integration of charging stations across platforms using advanced application programming interfaces (APIs). This integration aims to enhance network visibility and accessibility, providing a seamless experience for users across the integrated network.

Speaking on the occasion, Suresh P Mangalani, ED & CEO, ATGL, emphasized the significance of the partnership in accelerating India’s energy transition, saying, “The world is embracing more sustainable and clean energy sources and electric vehicles are at the forefront of this transition. Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited’s and MG Motor India’spartnership to develop charging infrastructure marks a significant milestone and will play a crucial role in accelerating India’s energy transition. This effort will contribute towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner and greener environment.”

The collaboration will enhance customer experience with RIFD solutions accessible to MG users at strategic locations of ATEL’s public charging network, including airports. ATEL will provide RFID cards to MG through bulk purchase arrangements, featuring preferential discount offerings for MG users.

As an early mover in the EV space, MG India has been focused on developing product offerings and establishing a robust EV charging infrastructure to ensure convenience in the adoption of electric vehicles. MG also boasts a 6-way charging infrastructure to make electric vehicle usage more convenient and accessible.
