Philips expands presence in India with new Healthcare Innovation Centre in Pune

NEW DELHI, APRIL 15, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): Philips, a global leader in health technology, has announced its expansion in India with the introduction of a new Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) in Pune. The centre, slated to open in two years, will mark a significant milestone for the company’s footprint in the country.

Spanning approximately 300,000 square feet in its initial phase, the Healthcare Innovation Centre will serve as a hub for innovation and research and development (R&D) activities. It is expected to accommodate 1,900 employees and will house R&D teams from Philips’ Image Guided Therapy, Precision Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Sleep & Respiratory businesses.

Bert van Meurs, Executive VP and Chief Business Leader of Image Guided Therapy, Precision Diagnosis (ad interim), and responsible for Diagnosis & Treatment, expressed the company’s commitment to bolstering the Indian healthcare ecosystem with innovative solutions. He highlighted the centre’s role in driving sustainable advancements and leveraging them for global customers.

The establishment of the new centre aligns with Philips’ overarching mission to improve the lives of 2.5 billion people annually by 2030 through innovative health technologies. Peeyush Kaushik, VP and Head of Healthcare Innovation Centre, Pune, emphasized the centre’s potential to foster collaboration with healthcare providers and design end-to-end solutions for better health outcomes.
